How to Brief a Jeweller for Your Bespoke Engagement Ring

The moment you decide to go bespoke is exciting — and a little daunting. You have a feeling, maybe some images saved on your phone, possibly a half-formed vision you can’t quite articulate yet. That is completely normal. Our job is to help you turn that feeling into a drawing, and that drawing into a ring.

Here is everything you need to know before your first consultation.

Gather Your Inspiration (But Don’t Edit It)

The best clients bring us a wide range of images — rings they love, rings they half-like, even rings they don’t like but can’t quite say why. The “I don’t like this” images are often the most useful. They tell us just as much about your taste as the ones you love.

Save images from Pinterest, Instagram, our own website, any jewellers you’ve browsed. Don’t filter too hard before you arrive. We will do the editing together.

Think About Metal First

The metal choice shapes everything — the warmth of rose gold, the crispness of white gold, the timelessness of platinum. Have a preference in mind, even a loose one. Your skin tone can guide you: cooler tones often suit white gold or platinum; warmer tones frequently look beautiful with yellow or rose gold.

Set Your Budget Range Honestly

There is no judgement here. A clear budget allows us to make the best possible ring within it — it doesn’t limit creativity, it focuses it. The best bespoke jewellers work brilliantly at every price point.

Choose Your Diamond Type

Natural or lab-grown? Both are real diamonds. Our gemmologist will walk you through the differences in your consultation — origin story, pricing, certification, and what matters most to you.

Come with questions. Leave with clarity. That is what our consultations are for.
